MISSY EMPIRE - The Bardot

Top - Missy Empire (here)
Skirt - Topshop (here)
Bag - Newlook
Sandals - Matalan

The Cold- shoulder / Bardot is a trend that is here to stay so I suggest everyone get on board and give missy empire a visit. White too risky? Do not fear it comes in a range of colours.

TIP - Although stretchy this top is incredibly tight so if you plan on eating or breathing whilst wearing it I recommend that people opt for one size bigger than they would usually go (in the picture it is a 10)

Flares, flares and more flares

Top - Missguided (here)
Trousers - Missguided (here)
Bag - Topshop
Jewellery - Miss Selfridge (here)

This has got to be one of the best outfits I have ever bought. I bought them at the same time but initially never thought of them as an outfit until I tried them on and instantly fell in love. Flares of any kind are on my hot list so after finding these trousers and wrap top (in the Missguided sale!!!) I don't think I have ever added something to bag quicker in my life.

Missguided, I thank you.

There's no place like home

Last year I did a very grown up thing and bought my first house.  A real-life, grown up house. It was a bit of a doer-upper but it's now been 1 whole year since we received the keys and so I thought I would blog a little bit of the renovation that took place to make it into our perfect home.  Hopefully it will act as a little bit of inspiration for those about to go through the same journey. Please comment below with any questions.

KITCHEN

Probably the easiest room to decide on was the kitchen. I have always loved the cottage shaker style kitchens and luckily Steve was on board straight away. The entire kitchen is from IKEA including work surfaces and the Metro Tiles were from  Stone trader at an absolute bargain - I think the tiles cost us something like £50 in total. The thing I loved about the IKEA service was that we were able to design the kitchen from scratch adding in things as we went to ensure it was exactly what we wanted. Over a few sessions meeting with the team we managed to create our dream kitchen.

BATHROOM

For the bathroom we both wanted a spa-like feel and so opted for large stone like tiles to cover the entire room. The sink table was fashioned from a hallway table advertised in IKEA. A few finishing touches was all it needed - I saw lots of bath Caddy ideas on Pinterest and adored them so rather then buying one I asked Steve if he could make me one and I think he did a pretty good job!

The rest of the house really only needed a bit of TLC. It's incredible what a lick of paint and new carpets can do to transform a room!

Thanks for reading! The dressing room and garden are our next project so I will hopefully be doing an update on this blog in the very near future.

Biker Style

I have to say my Missguided biker jacket is probably one of my best buys to date and has been central in helping me deal with the awkward winter / spring transition we are all going through. Mustard isn't to everyone's taste but I love how it can brighten any outfit. If I am ever having a uninspiring day and throw on black jeans and a t-shirt this jacket helps turn the outfit into something a little more interesting. Love love LOVE this jacket. AND IT'S STILL IN STORE!

Bridesmaid Central

Finding out I was going to be a bridesmaid was such an amazing feeling. Mostly because it meant that I could contribute to the best day of my friends life but I have to admit one of the thoughts that instantly rushed through my mind was, of course, the bridesmaid dress. Thankfully my friend has amazing taste so I have no doubt that I will be wearing an amazing bridesmaid dress come her wedding day but you can’t help but start to browse the web for different styles and colours. I recently came across  www.aislestyle.co.uk who seem to have an amazing variety to suit all styles, from plus size bridesmaid dresses to short and long bridesmaid dresses they literally have everything. They also cater for other events like special occasion dresses as well as wedding party dresses for guests. So I have decided to share with you a few styles that I have personally fallen in love with since starting my bridesmaid journey.

Firstly it is clear today that people are starting to deviate away from the traditional bridesmaid dresses and venturing towards more exciting styles. One trend I am loving at the moment is having different dresses for each bridesmaid whether it be a different style of dress or a slightly different tone in colour I love this idea as it shows each bridesmaid as completely unique but still unifies them as the wedding party.

Lace has always been at the top of the ‘wedding day criteria’ when it comes to dresses, hats, table settings, even shoes! It is simply timeless and adding a bit of lace can transform a dress from looking dull to looking absolutely fabulous. Lace bridesmaid dresses therefore are my next ‘go to’ style. Since the Royal Wedding I have often seen both wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses with high neck lace which always looks so delicate and simply beautiful.

My Final ‘ go to style’ is the short bridesmaid dress, ideal for summer weddings or even weddings abroad. Short bridesmaid dresses traditionally used to look extremely boring or primarily kept for flower girls. However today there seems to be such a wide variety of short bridesmaid dresses that it can cater to everyone’s taste!

TIP: having the same dresses but different shoes helps to maintain an aspect of uniqueness.

Hopefully this post has been helpful in starting to think about the many MANY options when it comes to the world of bridesmaid dresses. I hope you enjoy the rest of your bridesmaid journey!

Ruffle Shirt

Zara sales are usually too hectic for my liking but during a moment of determination I managed to find this amazing ruffled shirt half price! Clearly it was meant to be. I've paired it with my zip leather skirt which I bought ages ago but have linked similar ones below along with my camel coat and head over heels booties.
